GETTING A LIBRARY CARD
TO OUR PATRONS WHO ARE
In order for public libraries to be certified by the state and receive state aid funds, they must meet a list of minimum standards in regard to staffing, funding, hours open, money spent on materials and lending to other libraries. The Millville Public Library is not meeting all these minimum standards and has lost its certification. When this happens, libraries in certified municipalities, such as Holliston, are not required to lend library materials to the library in the non-certified community or its residents (605 CMR 4.01 (6a).) The Trustees of the Holliston Public Library, along with many other local libraries, have decided not to loan materials to the Millville Public Library or Millville residents until the library is certified. This was a difficult decision as our library has also suffered budget cuts in the last few years. However, we feel this is the best way for us to help you and your library at this time. We hope this will give you leverage to convince your town to fund your library to the minimum standards.
Please feel free to take advantage of our library’s reference services, attend our programs and use our computers. However, you will not be able to take out books and other circulating materials from Holliston, even if you have a Minuteman card issued by us. We sincerely hope this period of decertification is short and regret any curtailment of your library privileges. We look forward to the day when the Millville Public Library regains its certification and we urge you to contact your town officials about this matter.
WHERE TO FIND IT AT THE LIBRARY
HOW TO USE THE LIBRARY FROM HOME
Go to www.hollistonlibrary.org and click "Catalog" and then "Log into My Account."
Log in using your library card number and PIN. If you do not have a PIN, you can set one up online or we can do it for you. Once you are in your account, you can search the catalog, reserve books, renew, check due dates, pay fines and fees by credit card and track books you've read-- 24 hours per day. You can also be notified about books being held for you or books that need to be returned by sharing your email with the library. We NEVER send spam or solicitations and it is illegal for us to share your email with anyone.
